Congratulations on fulfilling your dream of becoming a Garrett County teacher! As you start your new career, you’ll quickly realize that it takes more than passion and dedication to make ends meet. Fortunately, the Garrett County Education Association (GCEA) can help. By joining GCEA, you’ll become part of a powerful coalition of educators that includes NEA and MSEA, two of the largest and most respected unions in the country.
As a unionized educator, you’ll have the collective bargaining power of your colleagues county-wide and beyond, which means you can advocate for fair wages, better working conditions, and a host of other benefits that will improve your quality of life. Additionally, your GCEA membership comes with a range of resources, from legal counsel to continuing education, that can help you grow as an educator and advance your career.
But perhaps most importantly, GCEA is dedicated to ensuring that all Garrett County education professionals are treated with the dignity and respect they deserve. Through public outreach, community engagement, and the tools provided by MSEA, GCEA is working hard to improve the contract that education professionals work under in Garrett County.
In short, joining GCEA is the best way to ensure that your dream career as a Garrett County teacher remains a dream come true. So why wait? Sign up for GCEA membership today and join the movement for fair and equitable treatment of all education professionals in Garrett County!
Use NEA’s Join Now feature to become a member of NEA, MSEA, and GCEA. Before filling out the Join Now application, make sure to know your current salary and select the correct salary tier for the Join Now application. If you are enrolling between April-August 31, your application is an early enrollment application. You will have all the benefits of membership to NEA, MSEA, and GCEA with the exception of legal services. Legal services will begin once your first dues payment is collected on September 15th. Please note, you won’t see dues deducted from your paycheck when joining during early enrollment, as dues collection doesn’t begin until the September 15th paycheck after enrolling (the first paycheck of the school year). Once your application is received, GCEA will be in touch with a welcome email, invitation to social media, and other GCEA member specific tools.
