GCEA is hosting its 2024 nominations using Election Buddy. All members will receive an email with instructions on how to vote and an online ballot. This ballot will arrive to the email address listed with GCEA (not your GCPS email address).
The following positions are eligible for nomination.
- Treasurer (2-year term) This is a stipend position and executive board role that requires attending GCEA governing board and executive board meetings (monthly) and also preparing GCEA’s Treasurer’s Report for each monthly meeting. This position also requires some travel and attendance at various trainings and willingness to participate in GCEA’s normal operations, tax filings, dues transmissions, etc.
- Ocean City Convention Delegate (1-year term, 5 positions): This is a non-stipend position and requires three (3) teachers and two (2) ESPs. Those elected will travel to MSEA’s annual convention (October 18-19) in Ocean City, Maryland to represent Garrett County along with other Maryland counties. The only requirement of this position is attendance of the MSEA convention, however it is recommended that delegates have an understanding of GCEA’s current agenda and membership needs. Delegates will have an opportunity to vote on MSEA’s annual agenda.
- ESP Vice President (2-year term): This is a stipend position and executive board role that requires an understanding of ESP needs among GCEA’s membership. The ESP VP represents ESPs in anything related to GCEA and helps to set the association’s agenda as it relates to ESPs. This role requires attending GCEA governing board meetings, executive board meetings, and taking part in GCEA’s operations as it pertains to ESPs. The ESP VP must be a Unit III ESP member.
- ESP at Large (3 positions): This is a non-stipend executive board position that requires attending GCEA governing board meetings, executive board meetings, and taking part in events as needed for GCEA’s ESP membership. The ESP at large represents ESPs and aids in setting the association’s agenda as it relates to ESPs. ESPs at large must be Unit III ESP members of GCEA.
