A message from GCEA President Heather Gosnell

Jul 01, 2023

Fellow Garrett County educators and education support professionals, I want to express my gratitude to Heather Roth, Lois Lipscomb, and the previous GCEA board for their invaluable contributions during a challenging time for our union. Their efforts yielded tangible results for GCEA members, and we owe them a debt of gratitude.

As teachers and ESPs in Garrett County, we understand the realities of being on the ground and in the classroom. Each day, we tirelessly work to provide the best education and environment for our students and maintain strong partnerships with our community. Together we make Garrett County an exceptional school system filled with dedicated professionals striving for the best outcomes.

Our shared goal is to deliver an excellent education while fostering a positive working environment and fair compensation for all our members. Working for the public education system presents new challenges every day, taking a toll on our emotional, physical, and mental well-being. Therefore, we must stand strong and united as a union and make our presence known.

I envision a union of Garrett County education professionals who support our community and uplift one another. Let’s collaborate to ensure the 2023/2024 school year acknowledges the rights and sacrifices of education professionals, while taking steps to enhance our professional standing. Together, we can create a brighter future for education in Garrett County.
